The Afghanistan team won by 6 wickets in the first ODI between the touring Afghanistan and the Sri Lanka.

The Afghanistan won the toss and invited the Sri Lankans to bat first and the Sri Lankan team scored 268 runs in their 50 overs.

In batting, Charith Asanka scored 91 runs, Dhananjaya de Silva scored 51 runs, Pathum Nissanka scored 38 runs and Dushan Hemantha scored 22 runs for the Sri Lankan team.

Fazalhaq Farooqi and Fareed Ahmad managed to break through with 2 wickets for the Afghanistan team.

The Afghanistan team, who played the reply innings, managed to pass their winning run in the 47th over after losing only 4 wickets.

Ibrahim Zadran scored 98 runs and Rahmat Shah scored 55 runs for the Afghanistan.

Kasun Rajitha managed to take 2 wickets and Lahiru Kumara and Matisha Pathirana took 1 wicket each for  Sri Lanka.
