Yesterday (13th), the Sri Lankan women's and men's carrom teams qualified for the finals of the 6th Carrom World Cup held in the United States of America.
Accordingly, the opponents of the Sri Lankan team in the finals are the Indian carrom team.
However, it is special that the Sri Lanka women's and men's carrom teams defeated the Maldivian team in the semi-final matches held yesterday and entered the finals.In the last World Cup carrom tournament held in 2018, the Sri Lankan men's carrom team was able to claim the World Cup by defeating the Indian team. However, as the women's team lost to the Indian women's team, they had to settle for runner-up.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Tarushi Himahansika and Hirushi Malshani won the bronze medal in the women's doubles event held yesterday. It is special that they claimed this bronze medal by defeating the United States of America team (2-1 in the match round) after a tough match.
