Day before Yesterday (30th), Sri Lanka had to experience a humiliating defeat in the second match of the Twenty20 series held in connection with the New Zealand tour of the Sri Lankan team. However, addressing the press conference held after the match, Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Janith Perera said that the failure of the middle order batsmen was the reason for the defeat and that he is expected to enter the third match by rectifying the shortcomings.Kusal, who further commented there, said this. "The failure of the midfield has a big impact. But we all know that any batsman goes to the field to do his best. Unfortunately, they took a risk and the shots turned into catches. Same happened to me.However, at that time, in order to maintain the speed of scoring, it was necessary to take a risk and engage in batting. Middle order batsmen often get only 4 or 5 last overs. Then the middle order batsmen have to take a risk and engage in batting. But we have to admit that the midfield is a failure. But middle-order batsmen cannot take much time to settle in a T20 match. The front-line batsmen get some time to settle down. Then they are more likely to make mistakes as they try to take risks and go for shots. However, we hope to correct our mistakes and enter the third game.'

Kusal Janith also said that it is a pity to lose the matches, 'as a team, we feel very sad when we lose the matches. Because every time we come to the game to win. Every time we try to win matches and maintain our winning streak.
Especially coming out of the country and winning is very good for our positive mentality. We come to every game to win. But it's sad when you lose. It is sad to lose matches. Every time we lose any match, it is sad as a team. But some positive points can be seen here.Several batsmen got starts but they could not carry the game to the end. That's what happened in both matches. So again we have to focus on the basic principles. It is our hope to prepare for the third match.'

Kusal, who also commented on the team's preparations for the third game, said this. We know the mistakes we made. The batsmen between our runs tried every time to finish the match. But in the middle overs, we have to take a risk and start batting. The reason for this is that in order to maintain the scoring rate, one has to take some risk and play several overs. At that time many wickets were lost.We hope to talk about it with all the batsmen and correct that shortfall in the next match.'
Meanwhile, Kusal expressed this opinion about the pitch used in the second match. "The pitch is easier to bat in the second match than the first match. However, 180 is a challenging score. Also, even after 15 overs, we were tied with New Zealand. But at that time we should have taken a risk and the game went to them because of the mistakes we made.'

Kusal replied to a question about whether he thought Sri Lanka's bowling was at the desired level in both the matches and said, 'The bowlers bowled well in both the matches. But it cannot be claimed that the ball was bowled very high. But they bowled well. In a Twenty20 match, any bowler can have a bad day. But if we correct the small defects, this number of points can be reduced even more in the third game.'
Meanwhile, in the first match as well as in the second match, the Sri Lankan batting line-up failed against Jacob Duffy. Accordingly, Kusal Janith replied to the question that what kind of plan was implemented for him, 'The plan was to play without giving him wickets. But in the last few overs, in a situation where it was impossible to play defensively, we had to score as many as 12 runs per over. It was planned to score more runs in the first two balls and score one run each in the remaining few balls. In the first few balls, wickets were lost due to taking risks and going for shots. But in the next game we have to plan how we can score 25 or 30 runs without giving away wickets to Duffy.'
