The Defense Services Weightlifting Tournament concluded recently with the Army team winning the men's division title. The women's championship was won by the Air Force team.

The Army, which won the overall championship in this tournament held at the Torrington Indoor Stadium in Colombo, had 40 bonus points. Accordingly, it was notable that they won 6 gold medals in this year's tournament.
The runner-up Air Force had 28 bonus points and won 3 gold medals. The third place was held by the Navy team.
Sandhu Jayawardena of the Sri Lanka Army won the award as the best player in the men's category.
The women's champion Air Force team had 40 points with 6 gold medals. The runner-up went to the Navy and the third place went to the Sri Lankan Army.
Air Force's Hansini Gomes won the best player award in the women's category.
