For the first time, the Sri Lanka Korfball Federation successfully organized the Beach Korfball Tournament, which concluded recently on the Negombo beach shore.

With a history of over 10 years in Sri Lanka, this korfball tournament was organized to bring fresh energy to the sport in 2025 and to revive it after being inactive for two years. Over 70 players participated in the event, competing in seven teams.

Teams from various regions across Sri Lanka took part, and the tournament was open to male and female players aged 15 and above. Each team played up to six matches, and after an intense competition, the Blue Team and the Pink Team secured spots in the final match. After an exhilarating showdown, the Blue Team emerged victorious, claiming the championship title.

A special fair play award was also presented to the team that showcased outstanding sportsmanship, unity, and teamwork. Based on the unanimous decision of the jury and referees, the Sea Green Team won the prestigious sportsmanship trophy.

The grand finale took place in Negombo, attracting a large local and international audience, making the Negombo Beach Korfball Festival 2025 a remarkable success.

Additionally, 16 outstanding players were awarded medals for their exceptional performances. The title of Best Female Players was shared by Janiska Sherin and Shayini Fernando from Negombo Thalahena College, while the Best Male Players were Anuhas Hettiarachchi from Negombo Adventist International School and Shenesh Inosh from Thalahena College.
