Princess of Wales Girls' College, Moratuwa, won the championship of the under-19 girls' first division cricket tournament organized by the Sri Lanka School Cricket Association with the support of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute.
The Moratuwa school cricket players who are talented in the boys cricket field as well as the girls school cricket field in the first division, the Moratuwa Princess of Wales Girls' College led by Vishmi Soysa managed to claim the maiden championship.
The final match of this year's tournament in which 10 school teams participated was held on Sunday (16) at Colombo Colts Ground, where Moratuwa Girls' College of Wales remained undefeated in this year's tournament and defeated Nugegoda Anula College by 149 points.
After winning the toss, Nugegoda Anula College, who batted first, scored 247 runs for the loss of only 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs for their innings.Princess of Wales bowlers managed to limit Nugegoda Anula Vidyalaya to 98 runs in 32.2 overs.
Captain Vishmi Soysa scored 71 runs for the Moratuwa Wales Princess Girls' College innings, Umayangana Peiris (46) and Shashani Perera (26) contributed to build that innings, Dinadi Thinaya managed to take 2 wickets for 28 runs.
Dahmi Sanethma (29) and Yenuli Satnadi (27) contributed to Anula's innings, while for Princess of Wales, Imasha Chalani took 4 wickets for 21 runs and Dinithi Devindya took 2 wickets for 11 runs.
