The third and final T20I match of the Sri Lanka women's team's tour of New Zealand was abandoned today (18) due to rain.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Atapattu, who won the toss, invited New Zealand to bat first in this match held at the University Oval International Cricket Stadium.Accordingly, when New Zealand entered the field, their opening partnership was 60 runs, and Chamari was able to remove Susie Bates for 31 runs as the first wicket. 
Emma McLeod, who became the second wicket, could only score 4 runs.Brookie Halliday was caught off guard by Kavisha Dilhari and was dismissed as the third wicket. However, rain stopped the match in the 14th over of New Zealand's innings, with New Zealand 101 for 3.At that point, Georgia Plimer, who was batting unbeaten, had scored 46 runs and Issy Sharpe 17 runs. Accordingly, the match had to be abandoned due to the persistent rain.
With that decision, the T20 series ended in a 1-1 draw, making it the first time a Sri Lankan women's team has drawn a T20 series in New Zealand.
Captain Chamari Atapattu, who spearheaded Sri Lanka's victory in the first match, was named the Woman of the Tournament. 
However, Sri Lanka won the first match of the three-match T20 series by 7 wickets.New Zealand, who scored first in that match, were all out for just 101 runs. The Sri Lankan women's team won the match by losing only 3 wickets in 14.1 overs.Sri Lanka's victory in the first T20I of the tournament also went down in history as the first T20I victory for Sri Lanka in New Zealand. However, in the second T20I held recently, the Sri Lankan women's team, who scored first, scored 113 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.Chasing that target, New Zealand achieved the target in 18.3 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. 
The Sri Lankan women's team suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat in the ODI series between the two countries.The first match of the tournament was abandoned due to rain, but the New Zealand women's team won the second match by 78 runs and the third match by 98 runs.
