Former Sri Lanka middle-order batsman Chamara Silva has been appointed as the head coach of the Sri Lanka U-19 cricket team.

An experienced first-class cricketer, Chamara Silva has also completed the ICC Level 3 coaching certification. Before assuming his new role, he served as the head coach of the Sri Lanka Police Sports Club and worked with Panadura and Bloomfield Sports Clubs as a coach.

His tenure as the U-19 head coach will span from March 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. One of his primary responsibilities will be to prepare the Sri Lanka U-19 team for the 2026 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup
