It is reported that captain Rohit Sharma and Virath Kohli will not participate in the tournament.

Due to an injury, Sharma did not participate in the last Bangladesh tour and still to recover. Meanwhile, there are also reports that K.L. Rahul will also be dropped from the squad. The Indian media reported that the decision will be taken on the basis that he scored only 6 half-centuries in 16 matches including the Asia Cup. Also reported the place of the Virat Kohli will be reconsidered. Dasun Shanaka leads the Sri Lankans while his opposite number is Hardick Pandya in place of Rohit Sharma who will be rested along with Virat Kohli.

The t20 and one-day cricket tournament between the Sri Lankan and India is scheduled to start on January 3. The tournament will be held in India and will include three t20 matches and three ODIs.

Mumbai hosts the first T20 in Mumbai on January 03, followed by games in Pune and Rajkot on 05 and 07 of January. The first ODI takes place in Gwati on 10 January with the second in Kolkata on 12 January and the third in Trivandrum on 15 January.
