The 70th Sri Lanka National Badminton Championship is scheduled to be held from January 14th to January 22nd at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. Along with this national tournament, the 38th National Junior Badminton Championship is also scheduled to be held.
The Sri Lanka Badminton Association
is fully prepared to hold these tournaments at the highest standards according
to international standards.
A popular sports channel, Gaja TV,
can watch this national tournament live on its channel number 116 and
simultaneously on YouTube.
Many talented sportspersons from all
over the country will show their skills here and a record number of 1300
contestants will compete. Due to lack of space facilities in the indoor
gymnasium to hold these competitions, the Mercantile and Badminton Association
headquarters gymnasium has also been reserved for this competitions.
This is the strongest badminton
tournament held in the country in the men's division.
Buwaneka Gunathilaka, Sachin Dias,
Rantushka Sasindu, Rashindu Hendahewa, Viren Nettasinghe and Dumidu Abevikramat
Thilini Hendahewa, Kavidi Sirimanna,
Nadisha Gayanti, Ranithma Liyanage and Warangana Jayawardene will also give
life to the tournament in the women's section...
Sanjeeva Wijesekara is the main
expert referee of the tournament, Samanthi Navaratna is the deputy referee and
they are supported by 9 international referees, 2 international referees and 80
national referees.
The organizing committee consists of
180 members.
Winners will be awarded more than 2 million rupees in cash, trophies and other valuable prizes.
