Sri Lankan Under-19 girls' team won the first match of the under-19 girls'  twenty 20 world cup tournament by 7 wickets against the United States of America.

The United States of America won the toss and entered the field to bat first.

At the end of the their 20 overs, they could collect only 96 runs for lost of 9 wickets.

Devmi Vihanga took 3 wickets for 11 runs for Sri Lanka.

Entering the field with a winning target of 97 runs, the Sri Lankan girls team managed to pass their winning target by scoring 100 runs at the end of 19 overs only lost of 3 wickets.

Vishmi Gunaratne was unbeaten on 34 runs and Manudi Nanayakkara scored 32 runs.

The next match in which the Sri Lankan team will participate is scheduled to be held on the 16th against Bangladesh.
