Mr. Maxwell de Silva, the General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee, has informed the International Rugby Union in writing that the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee will accept only the official board headed by Mr. Rizvi Illyas, who was legally appointed for the administration of Sri Lanka Rugby, and will not accept the committees appointed in any other way.

The secretary of the National Olympic Committee has stated in the letter that the International Olympic Committee and the Asian Olympic Committee do not accept the interim committees appointed by the Ministry of Sports and the affairs and  Sri Lanka Rugby Union should be governed by its constitution.

Mr. Maxwell de Silva has further mentioned in the letter that the elections of the relevant associations should be done according to the National Olympic Committee and the Sports Act.

Mr. Maxwell de Silva has forwarded copies of that letter to seven parties including the International Olympic Committee and the Asian Olympic Committee.

Sports Minister Mr. Roshan Ranasinghe dissolved the rugby administration chaired by Mr. Rizvi Illyas on April 11 and appointed an interim committee for the rugby administration.
