SLC sources state that the Sri Lankan squad for the World Cup qualifying tournament is scheduled to be announced before the second match of the Sri Lanka-Afghanistan one-day series that starts tomorrow.
However,
it is reported that Kusal Janith Perera, who is suffering from an injury, is
also uncertain about joining the World Cup qualifying tournament.
The
following 16-member squad has been selected by the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection
Committee for the first two games of the ODI series vs. Afghanistan.
The
three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will commence on June
2, 2023, at the MRICS in Hambantota.
Wanindu Hasaranga is currently undergoing
rehabilitation for a foot injury, and he will return to play once he is cleared to do so. Kusal Janith Perera
was not picked for the ODI series as he is currently undergoing rehabilitation
following a hamstring injury he sustained during
Sri Lanka’s tour of New Zealand.
