Sri Lanka's spinner Wanidu Hasaranga has won the ICC Cricket
Player of the Month award in June 2023.
He has received this award for his performance in the 2023 World
Cup qualification tournament which held in Zimbawe. In that tournament, Wanidu
took 22 wickets in 7 matches and thus the total number of wickets Wanidu took was
26 in June 2023.
Wanidu's 22 wickets in the World Cup qualifying tournament was the
second highest wicket taken by a bowler in an ODI tournament.
Moreover, as an all-rounder, Wanidu also performed well with the
bat in this tournament.
In addition to Wanidu Hasaranga, Zimbabwean batsman Sean Williams and Australia's Travis Head were also nominated for the ICC June Cricketer of the Month award.
