Accordingly, Maleesha Dilshan Karunaratne managed to win a gold medal for Sri Lanka today. He represented the 73 kg junior weight class. In this competition, he achieved 255 kg in the snatch and 145 kg in the clean and jerk.
Indika Dissanayake, one of the senior weightlifters representing Sri Lanka, managed to win the bronze medal for in the 73 kg senior weight class that participated in today.
By winning this bronze medal, the number of medals won by Indika Dissanayake in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships increases to 6. It is remarkable that Indika lost the silver medal in this competition by a margin of 1 kg.
In the 89 kg senior weight class, our senior weightlifter Chinthana Gital Vidanage managed to win a silver medal for Sri Lanka. Chinthana's overall performance in her event was 290 kg. 128 kg in the snatch method and 162 kg in the clean and jerk method. Gital Vidanage performed well today.
On the first day of the tournament, Shrimali Samarakoon won a silver medal for Sri Lanka in the 45 kg women's weight class, while Kamal Egodawatta managed to win another silver medal in the 61 kg men's weight class.
In addition, R. W Rashmitha who represented the 49kg junior men's weight class in the tournament, Anju de Silva who represented the 61kg junior men's weight class, K.B. Venura who represented the 55kg weight class. , 55 kg junior male weight class represented by T. M.N. S.
