It is reported that the Sri Lankan Junior Athletics team is in danger of losing the opportunity to join the Junior World Athletics Championships scheduled to be held in Peru. Accordingly, the sports authorities have refused to provide the necessary financial provisions to the concerned team as the reason.
A team of 13 athletes representing Sri Lanka qualified for the Junior World Championship Junior Athletics Tournament to be held in Lima, Peru. However, this world championship youth athletics tournament can be introduced as one of the main tournaments where youth athletics have the opportunity to show their skills.
This year's World Junior Athletics Championship is scheduled to be held from the 27th to the 31st.
This unfortunate situation has arisen due to the fact that such backward visas and necessary provisions for air tickets and other facilities have not been received from here.According to athletics sources, the Athletics Association has made a request to the Ministry of Sports to provide financial allocations for the related activities. However, in response, the sports ministry authorities have informed in writing that they cannot provide the necessary financial allocations to the youth indoor sports team as the money that can be provided for foreign tournaments has been spent.
Accordingly, there is a risk of losing the opportunity for the youth team to participate in this year's world championship junior athletics tournament. However, in the end, it should be mentioned that due to such misdeeds, sportspersons who are capable of devoting their lives to sports and bringing honor to Sri Lanka are in a lot of trouble. Also, it is sad that due to the stupid actions of the officials and authorities, efforts are being made to break the dreams of the athletes who enter the competition field for the country.
Also, in such circumstances, it must be assumed that an Olympic medal will only be a dream for Sri Lanka in the future.
