Sri Lanka Football federation president Jaswar Umar met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino this week and discussed about the Sri Lankan situation in detail. Jaswar Umar explained that the anarchy was created by a small group of people, who are ex-officials and vested with personal interest . He also affirmed that this is not an interference by the Minister of Sports . The dissent group are backed by a corrupt banned official and very small in numbers.

Sri Lanka football President has secured the support of 52 member leagues out of 61 eligible voters while the dissent group has only 9 leagues . FIFA is holding to decision to suspend Sri Lanka at the request of Jaswar Umar , as he has assured that he will discuss the matter in detail with Minister of Sports and submit facts to the Court of Appeal to end this dispute amicably.

Jaswar Umar said he along with his supporting leagues are doing every best to save Sri Lanka Football from suspension. “ it’s time for us to reject these corrupt ex-officials and usher a new era for football with new outlook’. Said Jaswar Umar.  FIFA is ready to support Jaswar Umar’s efforts to end this dispute amicably and FIFA always alwant to protect the best interests of the majority of the stakeholders. Jaswar Umar says , he is hopeful that this matter will Coke to and end by next week and an early election will be held with the consent of Sports Minister and FIFA .
