23 from Sri Lanka for SAFF under 17 football tournament.

23 members of the Sri Lanka under-17 football team will leave for Bhutan for the South Asian (SAFF) tournament.

The South Asian (SAFF) under-17 Sri Lankan team left for Bhutan yesterday (17th).

The number of members included in the Sri Lanka under-17 football team joining this tournament is 23. Its leadership has been given to Hafeel Akram and Aaron Senapala has held the responsibilities of vice leadership. Mr. Aruna Sampath is the head coach of the Sri Lankan team in this tournament.
Sri Lanka will compete in the 'B' group in the preliminary round of this year's South Asian Football Tournament, which will be held from the 20th to the 30th of this month. Other countries in the group are hosts Bhutan, Pakistan and Nepal. India, Maldives and Bangladesh will compete in Group 'A'.
Accordingly, at the end of the preliminary round matches, the teams leading the points table in each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-final matches are scheduled to be held on the 28th. Also, the final is scheduled to be held on the 30th.
All the matches of this tournament will be played at Changlimithan Stadium in Bhutan.
