New position for Jayasuriya

Sri Lanka's former Test cricket captain Mr. Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the head coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team.

Former Sri Lanka Test cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the full-time head coach for a period of one year after his recent success as the interim head coach,  with the success of the Sri Lankan team in the New Zealand series.

As the successor of Chris Silverwood, who held the position of the previous head coach of the Ceylon Cricket team, Sanath Jayasuriya was invited by Sri Lanka Cricket as a temporary coach to the team.Jayasuriya took over as interim head coach for the series against India after Silverwood decided not to extend his contract, which had originally been extended to cover the England series.
Jayasuriya has achieved remarkable results during his interim administration. Under his leadership, Sri Lanka bounced back from a challenging T20 series to win a 2-0 ODI against India in August.
Despite losing the series by -1, the team had a significant win at the Oval in England, where they managed to fulfill their responsibility.
Sri Lanka is currently leading 1-0 in the series against New Zealand, leaving room for the Sri Lankan team to win the two-match series 2-0
