Yesterday, the Sri Lanka women's and men's carrom team had to settle for runner-up finishes in the team events of this year's Carrom World Cup.

In the finals of the 6th Carrom World Championship held in San Francisco, USA, the Sri Lanka women's carrom team and the men's carrom team lost to the elite Indian teams.However, in the last World Cup held in 2018, Sri Lanka won the men's championship by defeating the Indian team. However, the women's team won the runner-up title in that tournament as well.
Meanwhile, the pair of Shahid Hilmi and Anas Ahmed were able to win the bronze medal in the men's doubles event of this year's Carrom World Cup. Tarushi Himahansika and Hirushi Malshani also won the women's title.
