Hasini Ambalangodage and Hazara Wijeratne have managed to win silver medals for Sri Lanka in the South African Open badminton tournament.
Hasini and Hazara lost to the South African players in the women's doubles final of the tournament held at the Access Park Indoor Stadium in Cape Town.In the doubles final, Hasini and Hazara had to settle for silver as they suffered a 2-0 loss to South Africa's Amy Ackerman and Deidre Lawrence 21-14, 21-14.
However, it was notable that Hasini and Hazara, who teamed up for three international badminton tournaments from November 14 to December 1, won one gold medal and two silver medals in those tournaments.Accordingly, Hasini and Hazara, who won the silver medal in the women's doubles event at the Zambia International Badminton Tournament, won the gold medal at the Botswana International Badminton Championship, marking the first time that two Sri Lankan players have shown such a feat.
