Havelocks Sports Club, a key contributor to the development of domestic rugby, recently organized a special press conference to announce its sponsors for the year 2025. The event was held at the Havelocks Sports Club premises. With a proud legacy of 109 years, the club is recognized as one of the premier institutions participating in top-tier rugby tournaments in Sri Lanka

Cap Fizz Private Limited, a company renowned for producing energy drinks under the "Turbo" brand, has been named the principal sponsor of Havelocks Sports Club. The company has committed to sponsoring the club for the next three years, reflecting a significant partnership.

Additionally, other sponsors include Flyhigh Sports, an Australian-based sportswear company headquartered in Melbourne, Lanka Hospitals PLC, and Prima Group. These organizations have joined hands to support the club's journey.

For the first time, Havelocks Sports Club is fielding a women’s rugby team in this year’s tournament. This marks a groundbreaking moment, as previously only teams from the armed forces and police participated in first-tier women’s rugby competitions. The inclusion of young, talented female players in the Havelocks squad is a step toward greater inclusivity in the sport.

Havelocks Sports Club Chairman, Rajiv Perera, expressed the team’s determination to aim for the championship in the upcoming tournaments. The squad includes 12 promising players from leading schools such as Wesley, Isipathana, St. Peter’s, Trinity, and D.S. Senanayake, along with two players from the armed forces. The team, led by captain Abdullah Faiz and vice-captain Sandesh Jayawickrama, is coached by Saliya Kumara and Dhanushka Boteju, who bring extensive expertise to the table.

Discussing the club's vision for women's rugby, Chairman Perera stated that the goal is to offer professional contracts to female players and provide them with opportunities to join the national team in the future.

This announcement signifies a transformative step for the club, underlining its commitment to elevating rugby to new heights in Sri Lanka. With the support of its sponsors and a focus on both men’s and women’s rugby, Havelocks Sports Club aims to lead the way in domestic rugby development.
