Yesterday (21st), the Sri Lankan Youth Women's team managed to record an easy victory in the second match in the preliminary round of the Under-19 Women's World Cup.There, Sri Lanka's young women won by 81 runs against the West Indies under-19 team.
The Sri Lankan skipper won the toss and decided to bat first.Accordingly, Sumudu Nisansala and Sanjana Kavindi, who started the Sri Lankan innings, built a successful partnership of 54 runs for the first wicket. However, Sumudu, who had collected 19 runs, was dismissed as the first wicket and Sanjana Kavindi collected 38 runs.Captain Manudi Nanayakkara was engaged in a responsible batting and collected 37 points by spending only 31 balls. Hiruni Kumari could get only one mark. Rashmika Sevwandi managed to get the ball out before scoring and Shashini Jumni collected 4 runs without losing.However, in the last half of the Sri Lankan innings, Dhami Senethma, who played a superb batting match, faced only 25 balls and scored 31 runs without losing with 3 fours. Accordingly, the number of runs scored by the Sri Lanka women's under-19 team at the end of the scheduled 20 overs is 166 for 5 wickets.
Bowling for the West Indies, Selina Ross took 2 wickets while Jason Claxton, Kenika Cassar and Nijanni Cumberbeth shared one wicket each.When the number of runs of the West team that chased that challenging goal reached 10, Azabi Kalender was out for 4 runs and Naijanni Kumberbeth was out for 3 runs as the first wicket. Jasara Claxton went off the field for 15 points. Captain Samara Ramnath scored 24 points.Berina Harikran lost for 3 runs and Amrita Ramthal for 11 runs, the West Indies were in dire straits.
