The Bangladesh Cricket Board yesterday (June 5) officially announced its 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
As expected, Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to captain the Bangladesh Test team. A notable inclusion in the squad is pace bowler Ebadot Hossain, who returns to the Test side after nearly two years. He had been sidelined due to an injury sustained during an ODI against Afghanistan in July 2023, which required surgery. Now fully recovered, Ebadot has been recalled to the national Test team.
Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has also been included once again in the Test squad. Left-arm pacer Hasan Murad has been added as well. Meanwhile, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanvir Islam, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib have been dropped from the squad. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has not yet fully recovered from injury and has therefore not been considered for selection.
The Bangladesh team is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on June 13.
The first Test match of the series will begin on June 17 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, and the second match is set to start on June 25 at the SSC Ground in Colombo.
This series also marks the first series of the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle.
