The president of Anuradhapura District Football Association, Mr. Thilanga Dakshitha Sumathipala, who handed over nominations for the position of president of the Sri Lanka Football Official Election, and 04 other nominations of that party have been rejected.

The Football Selection Committee has approved only the remaining 08 nominations supporting Mr. Dakshitha.

However, regarding the rejection of nominations, the concerned candidates have been given the opportunity to submit appeals before 03 September.

Thilanga Dakshitha Sumathipala who was nominated for the post of President, T.L. who was nominated for the post of Vice President. Uduvara (Wattala League), Nalaka Dissanayake (Sri Lanka Schools), Nihal Perera (Wattala League) and Heshini Ariyaratne (Deniya League) who came forward for women's representation in the executive council have been rejected.

It is also reported that the reason for rejecting these nominations is that it has been confirmed that the affiliated football leagues have not been active for 04 years.

If Mr. Dakshitha's appeals are rejected, former chairman Mr. Jaswar Umar will be appointed chairman unopposed and it is also special that the other 04 main positions will also get unopposed opportunities.

However, the selection committee approved all 13 nominations of the former chairman Mr. Jaswar Umar.

Retired judge U. L. Mr. Abdul Majeed, and retired Judge Bandula K. as members. Mr. Athapattu and retired Major General Upali Gunasekara are officiating.
