The inter-club men's hockey championship organized with the aim of bequeathing to the next generation a situation where they can conquer the international hockey field has been named as "Sri Lanka Premier League Hockey Tournament". The number of sports clubs selected for that is 08. Army Sports Club, Navy Sports Club, Air Force Sports Club, Police Sports Club, B. R. C. Club, etc. Senanayake Sports Club, C. R. & FC Club &c. H. And FC Club are those teams.

200 players from this country who have experience in national and international competitions have been selected so far and there are many foreign players who have won the international hockey field to join those teams. Meanwhile, Amat Butt, who has led the Pakistan national hockey team, Mohammad Russell, who has led the Bangladesh national hockey team, and Koshadur Rahman as well as international experience Abdul Ahad (India), Fahad Setul (Bangladesh), Mohsin Javed (Pakistan), A. D. Travin (South Africa) and Irshad Mirasha (India) have expressed interest in joining the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League hockey tournament in this country.

As a result, it can be inferred that the league tournament between the sports clubs made up of local and foreign players has been sharp and hot from the beginning to the end. Among them, there are several players who have led the Sri Lankan national team.

The number of matches in this tournament is 56. All those matches have been arranged to be held on the new polytan type blue artificial turf at Reed Mawatha, Hatta, Colombo.
