Due to the failure of the sports ministry and other authorities to give approval in time, Sri Lankan team, which was scheduled to participate in the World Bodybuilding Championship to be held in Spain, has lost the opportunity to participate it.

The IFBB World Bodybuilding Championships, IBFF Men's Masters Bodybuilding World Championship and IBFF Women's World Cup Bodybuilding are scheduled to be held in Spain from tomorrow (2nd) to 7th. Four players and three officials were going to participate representing Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, this unfortunate situation has arisen because the Bodybuilding Federation had arranged to hand over the related documents to the Ministry of Sports on September 26, even after more than 20 days have passed, the authorities related to the sport unable to approve them.

Also, after National Selection Committee and the National Sports Council had the approved these documents were sent for the approval of the Sports Minister on October 18. After that, due to delaying the sports minister's approval until the 28th, the relevant athletes have lost the World Championship bodybuilding tournament.

Due to insufficient time to get visas for these players, this team has lost the world championship. Even though the sports authorities did not provide any financial provision for participating in this tournament, the players and officials spent more than one million rupees of their personal money to represent Sri Lanka in this tournament.

Also, the manager of the Sri Lankan team was scheduled to participate on behalf of the Sri Lankan Bodybuilding Federation in a special conference of the International Bodybuilding Federation. It has been planned to discuss matters related to Sri Lanka hosting the World Championship Bodybuilding Tournament to be held in 2025 and to present information to the international community regarding the hosting and the possibility of holding such a tournament in Sri Lanka. However, with the Sri Lankan team losing the opportunity to represent the tournament, the hosting of the World Championship has now become uncertain.
