Sri Lanka will take on China in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series third-leg at the Al Ain Sports stadium (UAE) on Saturday at 11.30 a.m. (SL time).
Sri Lankan's have been drawn in Pool ‘A’ for the UAE leg alongside
China, Hong Kong and Malaysia, while Pool ‘B’ comprises South Korea,
Philippines, UAE and Japan.
After a successful mission
in South Korea two weeks ago where they finished fourth behind Cup champions
Hong Kong, second place South Korea and third place Philippines, the Tuskers
are once again eyeing a top four finish.
Dinupa Senevirathne is the only debutant in the squad. The
selectors have included him with an eye to the future. Young Senevirathne is
outstanding in open play and this will be an opportunity for him to get
exposure to play along with experienced lads like skipper
Sooriyabandara, Adeesha Weerathunga, Tarinda Ratwatte, Mithun Hapugoda, Kavindu
Perera and Nigel Ratwatte.
The Tuskers second match will be against Malaysia at 2.50 p.m. (SL
time), and will complete their first-round matches with the last match against
Hong Kong at 6.35 p.m. (SL time).
Sri Lanka will be sans their women’s outfit at the third and
the final leg.
