Sri Lanka registered a comfortable 52-run win over UAE in the first of two warm-ups ahead of the inaugural ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. It was a low-scoring affair at the St. Stithians College Grounds in Sandton, with Sri Lanka posting a total of 90/9 in their 20 overs.

Opener Nethmi Senarathna did the bulk of the scoring, putting together a fluent half-century, which included 5 fours and 2 maximums, to take Sri Lanka to a competitive total. Opener Sumudu Nisansala also chipped in with 28-ball 14. In reply none of the UAE batters could get to double figures as they were bundle out for 38 runs. Off-spinner Dewmi Vihanga and left-arm orthodox bowler Vidushika Perera went through the UAE batting line up sharing 3 wickets apiece.

Sri Lanka will play one more warm-up game (vs Scotland on the 11 January) before heading into the tournament proper on 14 January, when they will face the USA.
