It is now reported that the Sri Lanka Cricket Council has decided to hand over the responsibility of leading the Sri Lankan team in the first two matches of the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh T20I series to Sri Lanka T20I vice-captain Charith Asanka, and the International Cricket Council has imposed a two-match ban on Wanindu Hasaranga.
The International Cricket Council has recently imposed a two-match ban on Sri Lanka's T20I captain Wanindu Hasaranga for protesting against a decision given by umpire Lyndon Hannibal in the third and final T20I match against Afghanistan.
Accordingly, it is reported that Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the first two matches of the 2020 series against Bangladesh, which will begin on March 4th, and Charit Asanka will be the captain of the Sri Lankan team.
And for the first two matches, the attention of the Sri Lankan Cricket Selection Committee has been focused on calling Jeffrey Wandase to the team instead of Wanindu.
It is also reported that Avishka Fernando is also going to be called to the team for the tournament with Bangladesh instead of Pathum Nissanka who was injured during the Afghanistan tournament.
The 3-match Sri Lanka-Bangladesh T20I series is scheduled to begin on March 4 in Bangladesh.
