It has been reported that Sri Lanka has been awarded co-hosting rights for the 2025 Women’s One Day International (ODI) Cricket World Cup. Accordingly, the tournament will be held under a hybrid model from September 30 to November 2, with matches scheduled to take place in both India and Sri Lanka, as stated in a release issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The matches set to be held in Sri Lanka will take place at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The remaining matches are planned to be hosted across Indian cities including Bengaluru, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Indore.

Notably, the match between Pakistan and India—among others—will also be hosted in Sri Lanka, based on a previously reached agreement. All of Pakistan’s matches in the tournament are to be played in Sri Lanka. If the Pakistan women’s team qualifies for the semifinals and finals, those matches too will be played in Sri Lanka.

According to current plans, the first semifinal match is scheduled for October 29 and will take place either in Guwahati or Colombo. The second semifinal will be played on October 30 in Bengaluru. The final is slated for November 2 and may be held either in Bengaluru or Colombo. While the official tournament schedule has not yet been released, the opening match—featuring India—is expected to take place on September 30 in Bengaluru.

Eight nations are set to participate in this edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup: India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.

Due to ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian team did not tour Pakistan for the recently concluded Champions Trophy; instead, all of India’s matches were held in Dubai. In response to India’s decision, Pakistan has opted not to participate in ICC tournaments held in India. This situation led to the adoption of a hybrid model for the Women’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in England.
