It is reported that there has been a loss of millions of rupees in the procurement of modern sports equipment for Sugathadasa Sports Complex.

Its reports that has unable obtained proper quality equipment even though there was a tender for sports goods worth crores of rupees in the last year 2021. However, this money has been misappropriated because bought many items including exercise mats for the gymnastics ground without proper utilization.

Also, in the event that the staff panel has been mentioned in a letter in this regard, an investigation will be conducted through the auditor general about this waste of money done by the the previous officers. However, it has been learned that the administrators have not taken any steps to the relevant request or bring those responsible for this waste of money to justice.

After the installation of the gymnastic exercise equipment worth nearly two crore rupees which had been bought in the past on the wooden floor of the stadium, has to purchase a large stock of 'tape' which was to be charged a high amount for every sports event. This problem is exacerbated when special equipment has to be used to remove those tapes. A serious misappropriation of funds has occurred as authorities been pay the supplier of these sporting goods. However, the failure so far to settle properly is regrettable.

Not only that, but also the low quality equipments been purchased in the past used by international athletes during athletics competitions. Accordingly, due to the fact that the equipment cannot be used now, a huge amount of money has also been lost.
