The Sri Lankan managed to win the Super over in the first Twenty20 match between the visiting Sri Lankan team and New Zealand.

New Zealand won the toss and invited the Sri Lankans  to bat first and they managed to score 196 runs by losing 5 wickets in their 20 overs. In batting for the Sri Lanka, Kusal Jathith Perera scored 53 runs unbeaten, Charith Asanka scored 67 runs, Kusal Mendis scored 25 runs and Dhananjaya de Silva scored 15 runs.

In bowling, James Neesham took 2 wickets and Adam Milne, Benjamin Lister, Henry Shipley took one wicket each.

In reply New Zealand scored 196 runs in their 20 overs and brought the match to a tie, and as a result, a super over was implemented to decide the victory of the match.

The New Zealand, who batted first in the Super over, scored 8 runs by losing two wickets. The Sri Lanka, who played the reply innings, managed to pass the target of their victory in the 3rd ball of the Super over.
