It is reported that former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has been appointed as the coach of the Afghanistan national cricket team.
Foreign media had reported that this appointment was made in view of the upcoming Champions Cup cricket tournament. Also, earlier in 2022, Younis Khan worked as the batting coach of the Afghanistan cricket team.
However, the Champions Trophy One Day Cricket Tournament is scheduled to start in Pakistan on February 19, and Younis Khan is scheduled to take charge of the Afghanistan team in the first week of February.
Younis Khan, who is now 47 years old, has played 118 Tests, 265 One Day Internationals and 25 Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan. In addition, it is special that Younis Khan was the captain of the Pakistan team that was awarded as World T20 Champions in 2009.
After retiring from international cricket, Younis Khan briefly worked as the batting coach of the Pakistan team.Apart from that, Younis Khan recently worked as a member of the coaching staff of Peshawar Zalmi team in the Pakistan Super League T20 and as the head coach of the Bangladesh Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
