The Sri Lankan team won the ODI series between the touring West Indies team and Sri Lanka 2-1. Although they lost the last one-day match at Pallekele Stadium, the result did not affect the series victory of the Sri Lankan team, which had already won the first two matches. At the press conference held after the tournament victory, the captain of Sri Lanka ODI and T20 cricket team, Charith Sasanka, commented on his victory and said that a talented team will never give excuses in case of defeat.

We are very happy as a team to win a T20 series against the West Indies team for the first time as well as to win the ODI series. We hope to prepare the team in such a way that it can play well in Sri Lanka as well as in foreign tours by paying attention to the areas that need to be further improved in the future.'
Charit commented on the third ODI that was lost.

The weather affected the decision of the third game. We played 17 overs keeping in mind the picture of playing a 50 over match. Such incidents happen. We have to accept them as part of the game. Also, if there was no rain, the decision of the toss would not be an important factor.Weather is something we cannot change. A good team never makes 'excuses' when losing. Therefore, this will be used as a precedent to plan how to win a match in the future even in such a situation.'
Charit commented on the failure of the spinners in the third match.
With the rain, the service of the spinners cannot be taken properly. Even though our country has the most dedicated stadium workers in the world, drying the stadium is an impossible task for that group. So it is common for spinners to fail with the ball wet.It also affected the West Indies in the first match. So we faced that problem in this match.'
Charit expressed this idea about the bowling in the tournament.
In the last tournaments, our ball defense was more than 80 percent. I am not even aware of its value in this tournament. After being informed, we will prepare the deficiencies and work for the victory of the next matches.'
Charit commented on his personal batting skills as the captain.
As a player, I work hard for batting. In the Indian tournament, I suffered some setbacks with the bat.But I am  showed  batting skills in the N.S.L tournament. It was a big help to succeed in batting in this tournament.
Charith replied to a journalist's question about the plans of the bowlers in the upcoming tournaments as it rains heavily in Dambulla and Pallekele during October-December.
I don't understand the weather. But in the future, if there is an effect of rain, two fast bowlers will be deployed.'
