Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering a sudden heart attack, according to international media reports.

The incident occurred during a match in the Dhaka Premier League, where Tamim was playing as a wicketkeeper in a game between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club. He reportedly experienced severe chest pain and immediately informed the team doctor, leading to his urgent hospitalization.

Tamim was initially taken to Fadil Tunsena Hospital, where he received primary medical care. However, after experiencing some relief, he attempted to return to the field, only to suffer another severe chest pain. As a result, he was once again rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed a serious heart attack.

Following this diagnosis, Tamim was moved to the ICU, and medical experts decided to perform heart surgery. His current condition is closely monitored by a team of specialists.

At 36 years old, Tamim Iqbal has had an illustrious cricket career, representing Bangladesh in 70 Test matches, 243 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 78 T20 Internationals. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 5,134 Test runs, 8,357 ODI runs, and 1,758 T20I runs.
