Australian superstar all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has officially announced his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs), according to a statement released yesterday (June 2).

Currently 36 years old, Maxwell stated that although he is stepping away from the 50-over format, he still hopes to represent Australia in T20 Internationals, including the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

He further noted that he took this decision to allow enough time for a young player to prepare and secure a place in the ODI squad, as he is uncertain about maintaining peak performance until the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Throughout his ODI career, Maxwell played 149 matches, scoring 3,990 runs, including 4 centuries and 23 half-centuries. In the T20I format, he has featured in 116 matches, amassing 2,664 runs with 5 centuries and 11 fifties, showcasing his explosive talent. However, in Test cricket, Maxwell has had limited appearances, playing only 7 matches for Australia.
