The Bangladesh Cricket Board yesterday (June 23) officially announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The team will be led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, with the squad featuring five changes compared to the side that competed in the previous ICC Cricket World Cup — a notable shift ahead of the Sri Lanka tour.

Key senior players Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim have retired from ODIs, prompting changes in the squad. Wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das has been recalled after a break, and Mohammad Naim, a left-handed opening batsman, has earned a recall after two years due to impressive domestic form.

Additionally, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who missed the recent Test series due to injury, returns to the ODI setup. Shamim Hossain, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud have also been brought back after absences.

However, Soumya Sarkar, the left-handed batter, has been dropped from the squad.

The ODI series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will begin on July 2 with the first match at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo. The second match is scheduled for July 5, also in Colombo, while the third and final ODI will take place on July 8 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
