In the opening match of the first round of the t20 World Cup, Namibia managed to record a victory against Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

Defending 163 for 7, Namibia balled out Sri Lanka for 108 runs in 19 overs. Ben Shikongo, Bernard Scholtz, Jan Frylinck and David Wiese took two wickets each for Namibia while JJ Smit claimed one wicket. Earlier, Frylinck scored 44 off 28 balls while Smit scored 31 off 16 as Namibia posted a fighting total on the board after getting an invitation to bat first. For Sri Lanka, Pramod Madushan picked two wickets.

When batting, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka scored 29 and Bhanuka Rajapakse got out for 20.
