Foreign media had reported that India's regular captain Rohit Sharma will not play for the first match of the Test series to be held with Australia.
According to that, the responsibility of leading the Indian team in that match has been assigned to fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. However, Bumrah has previously captained a Test match with England in 2022.
Bumrah, who is now 30 years old, has played 40 Tests, 89 One Day Internationals and 70 Twenty20 Internationals for India.
Also, the 5-match India-Australia Test series is scheduled to begin on the 22nd.
