The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to extend the tenure of their head coach, Jonathan Trott, by another 12 months. Initially set to conclude in December 2024, his contract will now run until December 2025.
Trott, who took on the role two and a half years ago, has been instrumental in Afghanistan's cricketing success. His guidance led the team to their first-ever semi-final appearance in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, a historic milestone. Additionally, during the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, Afghanistan delivered remarkable victories against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and England, cementing their reputation on the global stage.
This extension highlights the ACB's confidence in Trott's leadership and the strides Afghanistan has made under his mentorship. It also signals the board's commitment to maintaining and enhancing their team’s international competitiveness.
