New Zealand has named spinner Mitchell Santner as the ODI and T20 regular captain.
After the T20 World Cup held in June this year, Kane Williamson, who served as New Zealand's ODI and T20 captain, decided to step down. After that, several players (including Santner) served as New Zealand ODI and T20 acting captain.
However, during the New Zealand team's tour of Sri Lanka, which ended last November, Santner acted as the acting captain.During that tour, New Zealand was able to end the T20 series with a 1-1 draw and New Zealand had to experience a 2-0 defeat in the ODI series.
However, from the 28th of this month, Santner will be the regular ODI and T20 captain of the New Zealand team from the ODI and T20 tour of New Zealand.
Also, under Santner's regular leadership, the biggest tournament that New Zealand will face is the ICC World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in February 2025. Champions Trophy is the one day cricket tournament.
