It is reported that there has been strong opposition to the revised new constitution of the Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation.

Accordingly, the current administration is preparing to adopt the relevant amended new constitution after referring it to a special general assembly to be held in January 2025.Also, the Sri Lanka Karate Federation is currently facing the challenge of passing this constitutional amendment before January 31, 2025. However, the sources of the Karate Do Federation state that the current secretary of the Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation including the official board has acted in an arbitrary manner.
In accordance with this new constitutional amendment, a special committee named 'Karate Do National Knowledge Council' is to be appointed to advise the Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation Executive Council. However, Karate Do sources state that there has been strong opposition from the majority of the membership regarding the new constitutional amendment for this special Karate Do National Scholars Committee and its adoption.
Also, the relevant parties allege that the goal of the Karate authorities is to maintain a superior class through this amendment. The parties allege that the purpose of this panel of scholars is to provide opportunities for only the necessary persons to come forward and to give privileges including foreign trips to the children who train under their friends.
Also, the majority members are of the opinion that there is no need for another 'scholarly committee' to give advice to the Executive Committee of the Karate Do Federation. Also, through this decision, the Sri Lanka Karate Federation Executive Committee will become a mere 'puppet'.
Meanwhile, strong opposition is currently being raised regarding the scope of action of the Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation appointed by the then Sports Minister in 2023.
In such a background, the parties opposing this new constitutional amendment point out that the current administration is preparing to implement a constitutional amendment proposal that had been submitted by the relevant interim committee members. The relevant parties point out that the arbitrary action of the interim committee appointed in the year 2023 will be implemented in the Sri Lanka Karato Do Congress by this constitutional amendment.
