Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the finest batsmen to emerge from India, has officially announced his retirement from Test cricket. Kohli made this announcement through a special note shared on his social media accounts.
Despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) requesting him to reconsider his decision, Kohli stood firm and made his retirement official without any change to his initial decision — a notable aspect of the announcement.
Now 36 years old, Kohli has played 123 Test matches over a 14-year cricket career, scoring 9,230 runs with 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. Another remarkable highlight of his Test career is that he captained the Indian team in 68 of those 123 matches.
