Sri Lanka emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s categories at the South Asian Sepaktakraw Championship held at the Ratnapura New Town Indoor Stadium. Sepaktakraw, a rapidly growing sport in Sri Lanka, saw its second edition of the regional tournament hosted in the country.
Teams from Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh participated in this highly competitive event.
In the men’s final, Sri Lanka triumphed over India with a convincing score of 60–38. Sri Lanka’s D.M.V.D. Ranasinghe was named the Best Male Player of the tournament for his outstanding performance.
In the women’s final, Sri Lanka again faced India and secured a dominant victory with a score of 52–10. P.R.O. Oshadhi Weerasinghe of Sri Lanka was crowned the Best Female Player of the championship.
This remarkable double victory underlines Sri Lanka’s rising dominance in the sport across the South Asian region.
