The Sri Lanka Cricket Awards 2024, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket, concluded last night (9th) in Colombo. At the event, Sri Lankan middle-order batsman Kusal Mendis was awarded Cricketer of the Year, while Sri Lanka Women’s team captain Chamari Athapaththu was named Female Cricketer of the Year.
Emerging Player of the Year was awarded to Janith Liyanage.
In the Test cricket category:
Best All-Rounder: Dhananjaya de Silva (Sri Lanka Test Captain)
Best Bowler: Prabath Jayasuriya
Best Batter: Kusal Mendis
In the One Day International (ODI) category:
Best All-Rounder: Charith Asalanka
Best Batter: Pathum Nissanka
Best Bowler: Wanindu Hasaranga

In the T20 category:
Best All-Rounder: Wanindu Hasaranga
Best Bowler: Wanindu Hasaranga
Best Batter: Kusal Mendis

Chamari Athapaththu stood out by winning a remarkable number of awards:
Best ODI All-Rounder (Female)
Best ODI Batter (Female)
Best T20 All-Rounder (Female)
Best T20 Batter (Female)
Best T20 Bowler (Female)
Kavisha Dilhari was named Best ODI Bowler (Female).

Additionally, three veteran cricketers – Stanley Silva, Ranjith Fernando, and Chandra Schaffter – were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

In the media category, sports journalists Prince Gunasekara and Prasanna Sanjeewa Tennakoon received Special Appreciation Awards for their service in promoting Sri Lankan cricket through media coverage.
