Captain Dimuth Karunaratne said that the team of the last eleven who will play for the first Test cricket match against New Zealand will be decided tomorrow and the composition of the Sri Lankan team will be prepared with three fast bowlers and one spinner.
Joining a press conference held online, the Sri Lankan captain said that Nishan Madushka will get the opportunity only if one of the top-order batter suffers an injury.
Also, according to the weather conditions in New Zealand these days, Dimuth said that it is expected that the pitch used in this match will provide some support to the spinners. Dimuth also said that the Sri Lankan team is planning to use one specialist spinner in this match in addition to Dananjaya de Silva.
However, Dimuth added that there is little chance for the new fast bowler Milan Ratnayake to get the chance in this match.
Dimuth also mentioned that the weather prevailing in New Zealand these days will create a favorable situation for the Sri Lankan team and the batters of the team have performed well in the past by staying between the runs, so no change in the batting line-up is expected in the first match.
The first match of the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is scheduled to begin in Christchurch on the 10th.
