Sri Lankan team left for Carrom World Cup

The Sri Lankan Carrom team recently left for the United States of America to participate in the 06th World Cup Carrom Tournament.

This year's World Cup Carrom tournament is scheduled to be held in San Francisco, California, United States of America from tomorrow to the 17th. The number of teams joining for this year's World Cup is 20.
It is also special that in this year's World Cup Carrom tournament, the Sri Lankan team is going to participate in all the events of Open Singles, Open Doubles, Teams and Swiss League.In the 2024 Carrom World Cup, Sri Lanka's men's team has been captained by national champion Shaheed Hilmi, while the women's team has been captained by Joseph Roshita.
The Sri Lanka men's team last won the title at the 2018 Carrom World Cup held in South Korea, while the women's team had to settle for runners-up. That is, in the final of the men's division of the World Cup held in 2018, the Indian team was defeated 2-1 and claimed the world championship.
16 teams joined for the 2018 Carrom World Cup. There, the Sri Lankan men's team won the world championship by defeating Italy, Switzerland, United States of America, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, Poland and Malaysian teams.
However, we took steps to inform the authorities on many occasions that there is an uncertain situation for the Sri Lanka Carrom team to join the World Cup this year.
Accordingly, after Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya's attention was drawn to the issue, the Sri Lankan team had the opportunity to join it. 
In other words, the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute had arranged to provide the necessary financial support to the Sri Lankan team joining for this tournament.
It is a remarkable event that the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute has come forward to provide financial support of 5 million rupees for the Sri Lankan team joining the World Cup carrom tournament.
