Reports indicate that the Sri Lanka Kabaddi Federation has been placed under an interim committee to manage its administrative affairs. This decision was made following a special investigation conducted by the Ministry of Sports on the 1st.

The investigation was triggered by the selection of a national team for the recent Kabaddi World Cup in England without official approval from the Ministry. As a result, the Sports Ministry decided to conduct an inquiry into the federation’s management and place its operations under an interim committee.

Despite prior notifications for federation officials to attend the special inquiry, only the secretary of the Sri Lanka Kabaddi Federation appeared at the Ministry of Sports, submitting a formal letter.

It has been revealed that in March, a 12-member team and three officials were named as Sri Lanka’s national squad for the Kabaddi World Cup in England. A letter bearing the signature of the federation’s secretary was reportedly submitted for visa processing. However, before issuing the visas, embassy officials sought verification from the Sports Ministry, which led to the discovery of these irregularities and the launch of an investigation.
