There is a strong likelihood that the 2025 Asia Cup, scheduled to be held next year, will take place in the United Arab Emirates, according to foreign media reports.
Initially, the tournament was expected to be hosted by India. However, due to ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan—as well as Pakistan’s decision not to tour India following India’s absence from the Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan—this situation has changed. As a result, the UAE is now considered a more suitable neutral venue.
Previously, there were also suggestions made to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to host the tournament in Sri Lanka. However, under this new decision, it is now expected that the Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the UAE in September this year.
According to reports, matches will be played at three venues: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi International Cricket Stadium, and Sharjah International Cricket Stadium.
This edition of the Asia Cup is set to be played in the T20 format, serving as a preparatory series ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026.
Additionally, before the Asia Cup, a tri-nation series involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE is also planned to be held in the UAE—marking another key event in the lead-up to the tournament.
